bold belief: a month of prayer
Two years ago, a month of collective prayer helped birth a wild vision: What if God wanted to birth ten new expressions of faith in the next thirty years through us?
Better Together came into the world this past year.
As we consider what may be next on the horizon, it's time for another month long conversation with God. Where might God be inviting us to practice bold belief?
A story of friends fighting the crowds to get their hurting friend of Jesus comes to mind. What did they do when their way got blocked? They went up to the roof and made a way. Jesus was so impressed with their bold belief that he healed their friend.
We're curious, in this season, what is God inviting us to release so we can bring people to Jesus?
A sense of scarcity or fear? Our preferences or apathy? Maybe it’s assumptions of how churches grow or what a good church is supposed to do. Maybe it’s a discomfort with change or even grief in potential loss.
We’ve each got something blocking us from getting our friends to Jesus. And often it’s located inside our hearts and minds. The way we think about what it means to be the church. How we relate to each other.
The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the Jesus knows how to transform the places in us that struggle with bold belief. We don’t just have to try harder. We get to let go and allow God more room to work.
And maybe, just maybe, with a month in deep listening and reflection together as a community, God may be about to invite us to a deeper journey of bold belief, wild possibilities and more abundance than we thought possible.
Here’s to a month of practicing bold belief my friends!
