Praying Hands - Quilt Ministry
Contact: Ruth Sowards or Marlene Oliver
Time: Every Thursday from 9:30 to Noonish
Place: Home of Ruth Sowards
Child care: No
Type: Women of all ages
Focus:
Unlike many other organizations that make quilts for charitable purposes, our focus is NOT to make and distribute quilts, but to PROMOTE PRAYER through the use of the quilts we make.
How it works:
Individuals make the quilt tops, and then the group gathers to put the quilts together, tying the first of the prayer knots. The completed quilts are placed in the sanctuary during weekly worship service to allow others the opportunity to tie their own prayer knots. Whoever requested the quilt then delivers the quilt to the recipient.
Our group started in September of 2002. We make quilts for anyone in the need of the comfort of prayer.
Commitments:
This group is a prayer group that just happens to quilt. The only commitment we ask of you is that you pray for the person who will receive the quilt you make. No experience needed. Come learn and pray with us!you are making the quilt for. No experience needed. Come learn and pray with us!
Other ways you can be a part:
Pray for the person requesting prayer,
Make quilt tops even if you cannot come on Thursdays,
Donate Fabric,
Make a monetary donation for supplies, and
Pray for our ministry.
