Safe Church Policy
For all people who work with our children and youth, including Sunday school teachers, nursery workers, volunteers with our youth program, a commitment to MUMC’s Safe Church Policy is required. Please read and review our policy for creating a safe environment for children at our church.
Caryn Young is MUMC’s Safe Church Policy Coordinator. As a family nurse practitioner who works at Providence Everett Sexual Assault Center, she has a unique insight into the subject. We will continue to have training throughout the year on “Keeping Children Safe from Sexual Abuse”. Please watch the bulletins and newsletters for the next training. If you have questions or suggestions about the policy at any time, please feel free to contact either Caryn Young or Anne Rodeheaver through the church office.

Sunday School
Director: Paula Bemis
Our goal is that our children be loved, valued, and nurtured in
their faith. Our Children are taught by volunteers within our church. If
you would consider teaching or assisting, please contact Paula for more information.
Children's Sunday Schedule
The following schedule and classroom assignments may change on any given Sunday depending
on availability of teachers, attendance numbers, etc. If something is changed, there will be
someone available to direct you to the proper location.
Worship: 9:00 am & 10:45 a.m.
Children through 2 years of age are welcome in the nursery. Parents, please feel free to get your child situated prior to church service. Children ages 3 and up stay with their parents until they are released to Sunday school class (after Childrens Time with Pastor Tom). Parents may also choose to keep their kids with them during church service.
Children's Time (In Sanctuary)
9:15 - 1st Service
11:00 - 2nd Service
First Service Classrooms: Floor Plan
Children 3 years old through 2nd grade will start class in the Green
Room for singing. After singing, the teachers will take the kids to
their classrooms where the parents will pick them up after church
service. Children 3rd grade and up will go directly to their classrooms.
There will be someone in the classroom hallway to direct your children
to their classroom.
Second Service Classrooms:
We have one Sunday school class for all children.
MUMC Discipline Policy:
If a volunteer has a conflict with any child it will be brought to the Staff person.
The parents will be notified. If the conflict continues, the parents will be asked
to be in the class with the child until problems are resolved.
Communion Policy:
Sunday School teachers will NOT bring children (5th grade and
under) to the sanctuary for communion (1st Sunday of the month).
However, parents are encouraged to retrieve their children from
class to participate with them in communion.
