Give, Serve, Grow
October 11, 2026
Luke 10:25-37 NRSVUE
Fall is a natural time to look back and reflect on what we’ve been able to do over the last year. As we give thanks, we also prepare for the year to come. In this congregation, everything we do, we do together.
During October, we will focus on how we respond to God’s call to build a community of love together. We give money to make sure the church continues. We serve by rolling up our sleeves and doing tasks that make life better. We grow, always looking for the next right thing to do. Together, when each of us do what we can do, we build a community of love together.
On this second Sunday, Pastor Meredith explores the second part of stewardship: service, through the story of the Good Samaritan. The Samaritan gives more than money; he offers his time, effort, and compassion to help someone in need. In response to the question, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus points us toward loving our neighbors.
The story reminds us that showing mercy is more than a feeling—it is an action. Every time we show mercy to someone in need, we are putting our faith into practice through service.
