Mid Week Dinner & Studies
Wednesdays, October 1st - November 5th An essential part of a faithful life is reflection, study, and discussion with others in community. We will meet this fall on Wednesday nights for dinner at 6:00 pm and study groups at 6:30 pm. We have two adult classes to choose from. Mrs. Becky will lead a class for our Kids Club and Youth, engaging in some fun mission projects! Come make new friends, practice your discipleship, find hope, and be nourished in body and spirit by God’s community. Social Principles class — The UMC believes God’s love for the world is an active and engaged love, a love seeing justice and liberty. We cannot just be observers. The church helps us think and act from a faith perspective. The Social Principles are a UMC document that speak to current issues from a faithful biblical and theological perspective. This class will be team taught: October 1 : Overview of social principles Teacher: Kass Clark Oct 8 : Community of all Creation Teacher: Kathy DeNeui Oct 15: The Economic Community Teacher: Vern Woods Oct 22 : The Social Community Teacher: JoAnn Moffitt Oct 29: The Political community Teacher: Melinda Mulvaney November 5th: Book of Resolutions. Teacher: Connie Smith Studying The Social Principles provides opportunities to examine your own theology and ethics and to practice discipleship. Bible: Helpful or Harmful? — The Bible is supposed to nourish us and lead us to God. Instead of a gateway to God, though, many of us have experienced it as a gatekeeper, thrown closed in our faces and used for harm. What do we do with this book? Join us as we read Better Ways to Read the Bible by Zach Lambert. Lambert identifies four harmful ways you may have encountered in the past, and four healthy and healing ways we can read scripture going forward. This class will be most helpful for those who are deconstructing their faith or trying to find God after painful experiences in church. Pastor Meredith will lead this class. |

Our chapter has a policy of being positive in everything we do and it has been operating since 2014. We support and encourage one another on our journey to losing weight and getting healthier. We meet in the Green Room on Friday mornings at 10 (or between 9:20 and 9:50 for optional weigh-in). We start our meeting with a check-in from each attendee, have a program on a health-related topic presented by a member and finish up by 11. We play games and have contests, having fun as we learn how to navigate this road. National dues are $37 annually plus a $5 monthly chapter fee but you can check us out for free any Friday morning We'd love to see you and welcome you into our "bouquet".
