Contact: Catherine Richardson for more info What’s it all about? The Sermon on the Mount Have you ever found yourself in a position where you had to explain what Christianity is about, and you didn’t quite know what to say? We know that we worship God and follow Jesus, but what does that mean for our lives? How should we live? How do we deal with conflict, disappointment, and suffering? What are our core values? What are Jesus’ key teachings? In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus teaches his followers what it’s all about in a section called “The Sermon on the Mount.” In this sermon, he lays out ideals and possibilities, reminding us that we are capable of so much more than we know. It’s a theological pep talk, giving us the confidence and inspiration to live the life to which God is calling us. Join Pastor Meredith this fall as we study The Sermon on the Mount. Be part of a group of people sitting at Jesus’ feet, remembering that we are the light of the world, and with God, we have what we need to persevere and serve with grace and joy. We’ll be using Amy-Jill Levine’s book Sermon on the Mount, available on Amazon and Cokesbury. Being United Methodist: Our Story, Our Beliefs, Our Lives Every family, every person, has a story to tell about themselves: where we come from, what we believe in, what we value most, what we hope for. The same is true of churches, whether in a small rural crossroad in Colorado, a mission outpost in Congo, a megachurch in Dallas, or our congregation here in Marysville. So, who are we as United Methodists? What’s our story, our history? What are our distinctive characteristics? And what are we being called to bring, as United Methodist disciples of Jesus, to our community and the world around us? That’s what we will explore in our class time together, led by Pastor Bill Gordon. You can use Being United Methodist Christians: Living a Life of Grace and Hope as a helpful resource, but will not be required. (Available at Amazon and Cokesbury.) Just come join us on our “family” journey. Thursdays

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly)
Fridays @ 10 am | Green Room/ Choir Room TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is an international organization started in 1948 with local chapters. Our chapter has a policy of being positive in everything we do and it has been operating since 2014. We are a tight knit group (like petals on a flower - we're called "Petal Pals) but friendly and welcoming to new members. We support and encourage one another on our journey to losing weight and getting healthier. We meet in the Green Room on Friday mornings at 10 (or between 9:20 and 9:50 for optional weigh-in). We start our meeting with a check-in from each attendee, have a program on a health-related topic presented by a member and finish up by 11. We play games and have contests, having fun as we learn how to navigate this road. National dues are $37 annually plus a $5 monthly chapter fee but you can check us out for free any Friday morning We'd love to see you and welcome you into our "bouquet". Contact: Judy Haedt |
